About the Slaughter:
In 2007, 79 415 horses were slaughtered in Canada, a 58% increase from 2006 (That’s more than
1500 horses slaughtered each week.
These horses are not all unwanted, untrainable, old, sick or lame. Many are young healthy
horses that were simply sold at auction to the highest bidder - a “killer-buyer” working for a
slaughterhouse. In fact, over 50% of horses at rural auctions go to slaughter
